Hypnotherapy
At first it was a curiosity.
Hypnosis is a 35+ year passion of mine. I have used Hypnosis for many things. At first, it was a curiosity. I still remember vividly, the first time I experimented with the science of Hypnosis. I was on guard duty at the Holsworthy Army barracks during my term of National Service way back in 1971. While marching at my post in the dead of the night, I gave myself a suggestion that on the third step, I would do a right turn. Then I paced as I counted, “One. Two. Three.” To my surprise, I did a classic right turn, without conscious awareness and continued to march. That was the first post-hypnotic suggestion I gave to anyone. I knew of the power of suggestion but this was the first time I actually experienced it first hand.

“If I can make myself do that, then I have the power to make anybody do anything.” I thought. Of course that was simply not true. You can’t make anyone do anything under hypnosis, that is not in accord with their character. Besides, it just wasn’t in accord with my character, but to a twenty-something-year-old young man, it was an exciting awakening. But I was like a dog chasing cars. Once I had it, I didn’t know what to do with it. So I read a lot about hypnosis: references, articles, all about hypnosis. I soon learned the real value of hypnosis – interaction with the subconscious to make beneficial changes to a person’s behaviour.

Not without my permission. Hypnosis does not facilitate behaviour that is not in accord with one’s character. But it works wonders when both the Hypnotherapist and the client believe in the relevant changes.
